Botanist

The incumbent provides specialized technical expertise in support of a multiple use resource management program. Duties include:
participate in the preparation of environmental assessments for actions affecting botanical resources; develop and evaluate vegetation monitoring programs; develop procedures for recording plant survey information; conduct and coordinate surveys for special status plants; assisting in botanical studies and research; and assists the Lead Botanist in program coordination. Physical Demands:
Majority of the work is performed outdoors in rugged terrain, manually controlling noxious weed infestations, and driving on unimproved logging roads and jeep trails. The position requires physical exertions, such as hiking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting moderately heavy items, or similar activities on steep slopes in dense brush, over several hours. Work Environment:
Work is divided between the field and office. Field work may involve working alone in remote areas for long periods of time, but also with other people, during early morning hours or during the day. The individual may be exposed to discomfort from extremes in weather temperatures and/or hostile wildlife, hostile insects, chemical, and physical hazards. Basic requirements:
Degree in botany or basic plant science that included at least 24 semester hours in botany -OR- Combination of education and
Experience:
courses equivalent to a major in botany or basic plant science that included at least 24 semester hours in botany, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit your college transcripts or a listing of your college courses that includes hours and grades. Specialized Experience Requirements:
In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, you must also possess one (1) year of specialized experience - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-7) of the position to be filled. Examples:
Using knowledge of and skill in applying basic concepts, principles and methodologies of the field sufficient to:
conduct more recurring, well precedented botany projects using standard methods and techniques; identify and resolve botanical and plant response issues; prepare routine reports and prepare presentations; and analyze inventory and monitoring data. -OR- Substitution of Education for
Experience:
Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related and if it provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
