Position SummaryThe Clinical Practice Advisor is a masters prepared nurse, or in a program to become a master's prepared nurse, APRN (Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred), or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
The Clinical Practice Advisor provides is a role model and mentor for Asante's Mission, Vision, and Values and provides leadership in clinical excellence, evidenced based practice, nursing care delivery, and organization/systems innovation.
The Clinical Practice Advisor is an expert in clinical practice with a specialty focus in the Behavioral Health Services Population.
As a consultant and clinical resource to nursing staff, providers, and organizational leadership, the Clinical Practice Advisor develops the infrastructure for excellence in clinical practice across the organization using innovative evidenced based best practices that addresses complex system problems and/or patient care issues.
The Clinical Practice Advisor has the skills to assess, design, implement, and evaluate health care interventions to improve the quality, safety, and cost effectiveness of health care delivery with the goal of optimizing patient outcomes and experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collaborates with nursing staff, leadership, and/or multidisciplinary teams to identify patient care problems, to implement evidenced based interventions to these problems, and to evaluate effectiveness of interventions.
Performs evaluations of practice and makes clinical judgment based on the synthesis of concepts, theories, principles, and care delivery models to solve clinical problems.
Uses theory and evidence to develop and implement strategies to create and sustain change in the practice setting.
Serves as a consultant to nurses, leaders, and teams across the organization to improve the delivery of care and improve communication.
Develops, revises, supports, and interprets policies, protocols, procedures, and workflows using evidenced based resources, best practices, and regulatory guidance.
Supports or leads departmental or hospital committees and meetings to facilitate improvement of patient care and development of goals, philosophies, and objectives for specialized patient populations.
Supports the risk management and quality and safety departments in the identification, review, and follow up of harmful or near miss events.
Support processes and programs related to quality, safety, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
Coordinates the development and implementation of educational programs designed to convey specialized knowledge and skill for patients, families, nurses, and other healthcare personnel.
Coordinates programs for the professional development of nursing and other multidisciplinary staff assigned to specialty unit or populations.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills with patients/families, nurses and nursing personnel, and representatives from other disciplines at all levels within the health system.
Includes relationship-based communication, conflict management, crucial conversations, peer feedback, and shared decision making.
QualificationsEducation MSN:
Master's in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience.
If you do not have an MSN, enrollment in MSN program within one year is required.
Experience Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience.
Progressive leadership in one of the following is preferred:
clinical education, clinical practice, project/quality coordination, and/or supervisory roles.
Licensure/Certifications RN:
Registered Nurse licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Will consider candidates with RN licensure from out of state - but Oregon license required by start date.
BLS:
Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start.
Preferred CertificationsANPD specialty certification and/or national specialty certification from a professional organization in relevant field of clinical experience.
