The Monitor Tech is responsible for monitoring, documenting and interpreting EKG rhythms for assigned patients on the unit under the direction of the RN, LPN, Physician or Physician Assistant. This is a highly administrative position in a fast-paced environment and includes front desk responsibilities (such as admitting & discharging patients); ordering supplies and equipment; transcription of orders; and documenting and reporting EKG abnormalities, changes or concerns to the appropriate staff member.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Successful Completion of a Basic Cardiac Rhythms course. Medical Terminology knowledge is also required. This is typically gained through completion of a Medical Terminology course or experience in a healthcare setting.
Experience:No previous experience as a Monitor Tech is required, however experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Good computer and typing skills are also important.
Work Environment:Most shifts are 10 - 12 hours (depending on the unit) and will include long periods of sitting, watching monitors and working on a computer.
